It Has Been 2 Years Since The Wave Scored 5 Goals In a Game

The Wave offense came alive on Friday (11/1/2019) scoring 5 goals.  The last time that happened was 4 seasons ago (11/2017) against a much weaker opponent.  Rotolo scored first but Rachel Chaput opened up The Wave’s account with a shot over the outstretched hands of Rotolo’s keeper for a 2 pointer.  Brian Chaput assisted.

The Wave led 2-1 at halftime.

Tom scored on a fast break on a pass from Rachel.  Brian scored on 2 fast breaks assisted by Rachel and <?not sure?>.

Unfortunately The Wave ended up losing the game 8-5.

The Wave might have had a chance to win if somebody had stopped Rodney from playing.  He played terrible near the end of the game but played much worse during the rest of the game.

The Wave Drop Opener Due to Formation Blunder

Terrible mixup in the lineup and formation was the main reason for the lopsided 8-2 loss to United O40.  It started with a miscommunication which led to The Wave playing with only 10 players in the opening minutes.  A player was added but that was not he end of the trouble.  Somehow The Wave had 4 forwards which left only 2 in the midfield.  Not only that the 2 were shifted left which meant there was no right midfielder for almost 20 minutes.  The Wave gave up 5 goals in 10 minutes playing in an untenable 4-2-4 formation with no midfielder on the right side.

Coach Rodney Yoshida thought he could give everyone their assignments before the start of the game, but that did not work as well as expected.  Every restart (water breaks and half time) occurred with The Wave fielding only 10 players.  Clearly the coaching needs some improvement.

Not Enough

The Wave held a 2-0 lead at halftime on a 2pt Rachel Chaput goal assisted by Nikki Wooldridge and Bill Patton. The lead held until half way through the 2nd half. Metro United seemed to panic a little as they started to play overly physical. They are good enough to not have to resort to that kind of play. It was very disappointing to see. People could easily have gotten hurt. Metro scored 3 goals one of which was a 2 pointer. The Wave clawed back 1 on a goal from Brian Chaput. But there was no more to be had. Metro scored 2 more in the waning minutes as The Wave ran out of gas. The game finished 6-3 in favor of Metro United.

That’s 2 in a Row!

Goals provided by Anthony Plant, Brian Chaput(2), Rachel Chaput(1 for 2pts), and Roberto “Tico” Montalvo. The Wave defeated Fighting Lewisville Lakers 6-2.

The Wave End Drought With a 2-0 Victory

Bill Patton led off the scoring with a sizzling penalty kick into the upper 90. The blast left the Futballerz keeper glued to his spot as it powered into the roof of the goal. Newcomer Kristin Smith dominated the offensive midfield in her debut. Late in the 2nd half Anthony Plant could find nobody to pass the ball to so as a last resort decided to pass it into the back of the net. This win ends a losing streak that stretched for over 2 seasons. Bobby Folsom and the defense end an even longer streak with this shutout win.

The Wave Shows Improvement

Last season The Wave dropped both contests with the Goal Diggers 8-0 and 6-0. The final score this past Friday was 2-0 in favor of Goal Diggers. A Marked improvement especially with a brand new unpracticed formation, 6 new players, only 3 men subs and 1 woman sub. Also note that 1 of the 2 goals was an own goal 5 minutes into the game.

A Message to Div Over 30C From the League Commissioner

Due to a necessary team realignment, we have had to make changes to Div Over 30C. This is now a 5 team division, which means unfortunately, each week one team will have a bye week. Also, due to this now being a 5 team division, there will not be playoffs, however each team will get 8 games, playing each team twice. The winner of the division will be determined by final points at the end of the season and will still go home with the fabulous prize – a CHAMPIONS t-shirt! The 2nd place team will still receive a shirt as well. Our apologies for this late change!
