Daryl Gamboa – 21 May 2021 The Wave and by The Wave, I mean me, got off to the worst start imaginable – giving up a goal in the first few minutes. However, with the timely, and by timely, I mean better late than never, arrival of Doug to shore up the defensive sieve at center back, and by defensive sieve at center back, I mean me and two goals courtesy of Guillermo and another one statistically likely to have been scored by someone named Jose, we recovered from the early game defensive gaff and by early game defensive gaff, I mean the part where I was so badly beat..
In the second half, the much improved 2nd half starting defensive line of Kalina, Doug and May, along with much of the midfield managed to mostly keep out all the Rotolos who were vying for goal. With an exchange of what were certainly extremely memorable goals over the course of the second half, The Wave were maintaining their 2 goal advantage. Thanks in no small part to the stalwartly gentle reminders by Nono to not leave the Rotolo women unmarked so as not to have a repeat of the “Dainty Defending Debacle” of April 16th, 2020, The Wave managed to hold on to the two goal margin until the final whistle this time around. Amy provided 2 assists.
